About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Johnson City, Crazy Tomato is a vibrant pizza restaurant that perfectly blends authentic Italian flavors with a casual, welcoming atmosphere. Known for its expertly crafted pies and hearty Italian classics, this local gem offers a diverse menu that caters to every craving. Whether you're in the mood for a 14" Crazy Feta pizza crowned with mozzarella, feta cheese, pepperoni, ham, onions, and parmesan, or you prefer the indulgent layers of the Crazy Mexican Calzone, there’s a dish here that promises to satisfy.

Each pizza boasts a crust so perfectly baked it’s almost a meal in itself—as one enthusiastic reviewer put it, “The crust was so good that I could have ate it only and been happy.” The house-made sauces infuse every bite with robust, tangy richness, while fresh toppings—from the savory pepperoni to crisp green peppers and olives on the Crazy Garden Pizza—create vibrant layers bursting with flavor. The 18" Crazy Supreme Pizza is a carnivore’s dream, piled high with beef, pepperoni, bacon, sausage, and fresh veggies, balanced by melted mozzarella and parmesan cheese that stretches with every slice.

Crazy Tomato doesn’t stop at pizza; their menu extends to classic Italian favorites like Spaghetti and Meatballs, Chicken Parmesan, and Stuffed Shells—comfort food that feels like a warm embrace from an Italian nonna. Their House Salad refreshes the palate with crisp greens, while the House Bread paired with savory sauce makes for a perfect appetizer or side. And for those with a sweet tooth, the Toffee Butter Cake, a moist bundt cake drizzled with caramel, and creamy Cannoli offer a delightful finish to the meal.

The dining experience is enhanced by the warm and personable service that customers repeatedly praise. From Emily, the attentive server known for going above and beyond, to the friendly military gentleman who manages the restaurant, the staff creates an inviting atmosphere that feels like eating at a friend's house. Families, couples, and groups alike find comfort here, enjoying generous portions in a relaxed setting where good food and great company come naturally. One long-time patron shared, “I’ve been coming 25 years and it’s still just as good,” a testament to Crazy Tomato’s consistent quality and care.

The beautiful lady Emily that works there will bend over backwards to make you have a great experience. No one in town can compare. The food is amazing. It’s just one of my favorite little places in town.

THE BEST PIZZA. This is the way pizza is supposed to be! The crust was so good that I could have ate it only and been happy. If you have never added ricotta to your pizza this is the place to try it. Try a pepperoni pizza with any toppings you like and add the ricotta. The salad was delicious also! This is going to be a regular spot for sure! There’s no going back from pizza. The location is perfect too. Our server was very attentive I just loved being in this place.

I've driven by here several times on the way to the bowling alley, but today was the day I decided to finally give them a try. It did not disappoint! The place is run by a friendly military gentleman, and he was also the one who took care of us. We got an 18" pizza to split between the 4 of us, and that was plenty. You can tell the crust is made in house, plus the sauce is full of flavor, and they *did not* skimp out on the cheese! I found the atmosphere to be really cozy as well, definitely would be a welcoming spot on a rainy day. I will definitely be back.

True authentic Italian. You won't be disappointed. We used to eat here years ago fairly regularly when we lived in the area. Stopped by while in town. Just as wonderful and friendly with generous portions as we remembered. The seasoned bread with homemade marinara sauce they serve while your meal is cooking is some of the best. A winner in my book.

I visited on 4/24/24 and had one of the best meals I’ve had in JC! We started with the spinach dip- I loved the ricotta base. And I had a Greek salad with grilled chicken and the ultimate Italian dressing. My boyfriend had the chicken parm and added meat balls. The service was impeccable. They were so attentive and quick with refills. We took some cannolis to go and they tasted very authentic and fresh. We look forward to planning another visit soon.
